Exclamation CHP micor on ebay

Hey I saw this on sspmustangs.org and just had to quote it, but is this group an offshoot of this group?

To answer David's question, yes every piece is totally correct CHP equipment, some of it still has the state property tags attached. All the Mustangs through '87-'88 would have used this radio setup. To say this stuff is harder to find than hen's teeth would be an understatement.

Alot of the members here are also members there.

That setup is nice. They didn't use the speaker that is included in the auction, though.

Sorry if you felt that way.....I think Jim was just expressing frustration (the same I have also felt, and I don't think he meant anything personally) about the price of that radio going through the roof. I know the whole spiel about supply and demand, but I do not believe that an item on Ebay accurately follows those principles (especially since they now automatically hide bidders' identities after the auction reaches $200, essentially making every auction that reaches that point a private one).

Anyway, congrats to you, it's a nice radio.

My comments were not aimed at anyone here personally. My comments are aimed at shill bidders and Ebay for allowing it to happen. I am convinced that many sellers have friends/acomplices that purposely bid up their items. Why would anyone, who actually wants an item, bid in small increments time after time, running up the price on themselves, especially with a no reserve auction? In this radio auction the thug that ran up the price on purpose was bidder number 4. he bumped it up till he was ahead....then waited for Litsnsirn to bid again. Then bidder number 4, bidding in small increments, ran it up again. Naturally he didnt bid at the end though....

If you are willing to pay 450.00 for the item that is fine. I personally would not have paid that much but that is just me. We all have paid more for items than we probably should have. (hell I bought an owners manual for 117.00 one day to prove a point to somebody). My best advice is that if you are willing to pay 450.00 for something you should place that 450.00 bid with about 7 seconds left in the auction. i think if Litsnsirn had done that in this case he would have probably only had to pay 275 or so. Not his fault though. I blame it on bidder number 4....... The radio by the way is very nice...one of the nicest I have seen. It will look great in your car I am sure.

ebay is a great place to find stuff, but it is a swindlers paradise also. I am going their now to see if I can find a set of those long obsolete rare SSP windshied wipers........

I'm really glad this gear went to someone who needs it but Jim gives good advice in the art of buying on eBay. Don't get suckered in by the sharpies and crooks out there. Determine the maximum you are willing to pay and then wait and place that bid in the last minute of the auction. I know it's tough to hold off jumping into the fray, esp. when it's the perfect item you've been waiting. I've paid more than I wanted to in the past by not following this practice but have since wised up and the disipline has paid off more than once.

Congrats on the radio it's alot of money but if your willing to pay to make your car nice as you want it that's your perogative but ebay sux. Look at me i paid almost $200.00 for a shotgun rack that doesn't fit my car and not even on ebay just want the best for my car also. If a s810 ranger control head came up for grabs you would see some ridiculous bidding. Good luck with restoration can't wait to see it. John
