Default Attempting to locate, FHP #168

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am attempting to locate my old '87 FHP Mustang. I bought it at the State of Florida auction in about 1990 or 91. Drove it back to St. Louis and used it as a daily driver (rolling restoration). Sold it to a young man who evidently drove it a year before selling it to two other young men.

I don't even have the VIN because those two young men located me and I wound up giving them ALL the paper work I still had reference the car including the Ford badge decal that I was given by a Ford engineer.
I'm still attempting to locate the VIN through the State of Missouri. I sent in the paper work a month ago for a VIN search but I haven't heard back yet.

So, while I am waiting for the VIN (so that I can then attempt to find the present owner to contact) I was wondering;

Does any member, living in the Central part of country have any leads I can follow-up? Maybe someone has seen it on the road. It was painted all black when I sold it ( at least 15 years ago).

I STILL miss that car of all the Mustangs I have owned through the years and now that I am retired would sure like to be working on it and driving it (if it survived) again.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Jerry

Jerry, I hope that you can obtain the VIN. With that, you can run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report to see where and when it was last registered. Please keep us posted...

Try contacting the insurance agent or company you had the car policy with, they may still have the VIN# on record.

Gentelmen, Thanks for your ideas and encouragement. I did contact my Insurance carrier a few months back and was met with a "our computers don't go back that far". The call was ended with a "we'll let you know" and never heard from them again. Now that I have retired from my third career I have lots of time to call (pester) them again.
Again, Thank You,
Jerry
