1983 FHP
83 FHP Marti report arrived. FHP chose to buy four speeds even though the 5 speed was available. Car was a late 83 build also and the paint information confirms only 40 black and tan cars for 83.

Cool. Pretty interesting choice on the 4-speeds. Did you ever have your bodyman work his magic on the paint?

yeh the FHP opted for the 124.00 credit to get the SROD insted of the T-5. I had my body guy look at the paint and he is going to give it a try. I am going to take all the trim off and let him give it a shot. He isn't making any promises. I am going to wait and see what it looks like when he gets done then decide on the repaint.

I have seen a couple of 1983 windows stickers with the following:
4-SPEED MANUAL - CREDIT ....... 124.00- This was on invoices after the point that the 5-speed was available and became the standard transmission, and the SROD became the optional transmission. Now they were not SSPs, and the credit may have been a different amount for fleet orders. For example, one 1985 GT convertible invoice that I have seen had a radio credit (delete) for the amount of $148.00 and several 1985 SSPs invoices (and one ascMcLaren convertible invoice ) that I have seen had a "suggested" radio credit of $148.00 but an actual credit of $124.70. |

Good info. The Eminger for my '85 FHP car lists the suggested retail for the radio at $148 and the actual at $124.70.

the transmission credit information is also documented in the 1983 Magazine article "Blue Light Special".

also I notice no radio information on the Marti Report for the 83. Does that imply it came with the standard radio? The door tag is damaged so I cannot see the radio code. I would assume the standard radio would be FM only?
any thoughts??

yep I was think AM only unless the standard radio was AM/FM mono. I will need to find an 83 sales brochure to figure that out. I think I have an 83 AM only on the shelf though.
