Headlight Switch Replacement Procedure

I replaced 0327's headlight switch today. I'm posting the procedure here in case anyone else needs it and like me, had never done it before and had to figure it out. Should save you an hour or two of head scratching and swearing...

1. Take out the driver's seat.
2. Reach under the dash, find the switch body, then feel on the underside for the small spring-loaded metal pushbutton (visible in the photo here).
3. While pushing on the button, pull the knob out all the way. You might have to wiggle it a little to get the retainer pin, held by the pushbutton switch, to release.
4. With the knob and shaft removed, unscrew the round trim bezel by hand. This is the only thing that holds the switch assembly in place. When you remove this bezel, the entire switch assembly is loose.
5. Working under the dash, use a screwdriver on each side to carefully pry the retaining tabs on the wiring connector away from the switch. They are likely brittle and can easily break off so be careful.
6. Pull the wiring harness connector free and the switch comes right out.

This was for my '82, but is probably much the same for years after.
