Default 2012 CHP Retiree's Day pics.

2012 CHP Retiree's Day at the CHP Academy.
We had a great time ! Not only just being at the CHP Academy, but Friday morning the Space Shuttle flew directly over our heads in Old Sacramento at 0945.
EVOC demonstrations were the best ! After the 1400 show, Mike and I both were allowed to take our mustangs out on the EVOC track for 3 high speed passes. Thank you EVOC Sgt. Robin Johnson !

EVOC Instructors drove our cars.
I had Karry Stockwell, lead instructor take the wheel of mine.
GREAT RIDE !! Car handled awesome ! We got to 100 on the back stretch.
Could have done better, but it's an older car, no roll cage and I wanted it to remain on all 4's ! LOL What a ride ! Handling was tight and stable.
Just as I remembered them.

CHP EVOC Instructors all wanted to drive our mustangs. They were a hit.
Great time ! I have GoPro vidoes but no way to get them out there. Can't figure it out.
Saturday on my way home I attanded a Vietnam Vets Car Show in Chico CA. My First actual car show not counting Friday's CHP event, and I took 2nd place in my class. I was shocked ! I am pretty excited about that !
The fun has started after a long year of restoration, true enjoyment now.

Get your cars finished guys and get them out there for show ! It is a LOT of fun !!! People love them.

I have attached a few pictures of the Hemi EVOC Chargers with their new black and white paint jobs.
What a show !

I have got to tell you guys a pretty funny story ! Don't be upset Mike !! lol
Mike wanted to get his car on the EVOC track, but just a joy ride out there.
He insisted, nothing hard and fast.
Well..... he went out after I did and he was passenger just along for his ride LOLOL He got the same ride I received in mine ! CODE 3 in his.
I was laughing so hard, but I do believe Mike had a great time with it.
Both cars handled great.
See ya in a couple weeks at Ripon Mike ! What a fun day !

I had a great time there as well, CHP is awesome. They are such nice people. It was great to see those Mustangs running around the track and Mike's face was priceless as they ran thru the turns in front of the grandstands. Your car and Mike's car are beautiful restorations.

CHP also allowed our NHP Camaro out on the track that day, under the same circumstances. I rode in the Camaro and it sure did show its age. The Camaro has never been rebuilt and is at 101k miles. I think new shocks/struts need to be installed and the rock hard tires need replacing. The suspension bushings aren't the best either. I can't wait to see photos of our Camaro out there. If you have any, could you send them to me as well.

Thanks,
Mike

That event was such a blast. Yeah, I got taken a little by surprise but the instructor (Drew) that drove my car did a great job and it was great to really experience the car being piloted at that level. Glad I had rebuilt the entire suspension, brakes, steering and had those excellent BFGs on there. Drew is a Mustang guy (also owns an '08 Bullitt like mine!) and he said my car was tight and very nicely set up and a breeze to drive right up to the limits. Whew!

I'll post photos of my car on the track when I get them from the CHP photographer who was documenting our little escapade.

Here are a few of my track shots plus the link to all I took from the day here:

A few more:

The nearby fly past of the NASA 747 with Endevour atop and F-15 escort was dramatic as it occured just as the vigil ceremony was completed.
