Default 1992 FHP Unit #1537 Troop L

I purchased an FHP SSP off ebay last week. Unit # 1537 from Troop L.

Owner had copies of wreck reports that it was in while in service. The Trooper backed into a sign in a parking lot on one. And then he was parked at a gas station and while he was inside, someone hit the passenger fender and left the scene.

My plan is to drive it as is for a few years. I'll be gathering up all the equipment I need so when I retire, I can do a full resto on it. I've already bought a near mint Unity S6 and was actually considering putting it on. But I think I'll ride with the new version that's already on it to save the Unity for the Resto.

You'll probably remember this car for sale since a link was posted to it here. The guy was using it to promote his security business and had it covered in decals. I wanted to wait until I could get the decals removed and have it buffed before I posted pics. And yes, I'm working on getting new "stock" headlights for it. Here's some before and after shots....

Got in touch with the Trooper that drove my car a few days ago. Trooper Neil Moore. He was very forthcoming with info on the car and sent me some in service pics. We're still talking back and forth and I'm still getting more info from him. Here's some pics....looks like the taller antenna on the roof and smaller one in the center of the decklid. Micor AND 800 maybe? Or could the small one be just a repeater antenna? Also you'll notice 2 clear filters on the rear of the jetsonic beside the speaker housing, interesting. Anyone else notice something unusual about the badging on the decklid?

two antennas = micor and PAC/RT.

magnetic CB antenna,

K-55 without a rear antenna.

inboard flashers on the rear of the lightbar.

outboard takedowns.

alley lights.

the troop that drove it should be able to tell you if it got the 800 mghz before the car was retired.

ISP are always cool.

Thanks Jim! As far as the PAC/RT, is that something that people normally add to a resto? It's just the main unit in the trunk right? Of course there would be cabling running to the radio but that's about it right? As in, nothing is seen up front with the rest of the equipment is it?

Thanks for letting me know that's a K55 radar....my friend has one he was going to sell me if that's what I needed.

Hmmmm, reading that, it's possible that this one had an 800 from the pilot project. Since he was in West Palm Beach which is definitely in the "southern portion of Troop L"

Nevermind, after reading that agin, looks like he was just one county away from the pilot project. He was in Palm Beach County just above Broward county.

Trunk badging of "5.0" was probably a personal touch by the trooper. The factory trim piece would have been "LX". Very nice pictures - enjoy your car.

Yep, thought that was unique. Good thing about in service pics you see stuff you probably wouldn't have known otherwise.

That's one of the things I'm going to ask him about the next time we talk and see if he remembers it.

Very nice that you were able to get those in-service pictures for your SSP! Thanks for sharing them with us...
