Default Arizona blues

Now that the weather has cooled from $$#@! hot to warm, it is a great time of the year to start on the 87. here are a few of how I found it to start the thread off.....

engine didn't run....

interior was in really bad shape!

pulled engine for a rebuild and cleaned and prepped the compartment...

a little paint....

fresh motor!

I started the body work and ended up just painting the front. I was eager to drive it so I put it together, looked odd with the blue front end!

so today I ripped into the interior, and started sanding the body down for a new regatta blue coat! while I was tearing the nasty carpet and seats out I decided to take the dash out and put a new heater core in. Oh yeah, while I was driving it the supposed rebuilt AOD started giving me serious problems, a rebuild would have cost me over 1K! I purchased a complete 5 speed change over for almost half that. It now sports a manual trans!

Up next is some painting!

Regatta and Bimini blue are my favorite colors on a coupe. I had a non-SSP 92 Bimini coupe until it was taken out by incompetent dodge van driver. :/

Default New paint

Here are some pics of the latest progress. Paint is done. I am working on the wiring mess, trying to get the wig/wags and strobes functional.

In the booth....

Regatta blue base coat

Clear coat....

Here are a few interesting details. The special dome lamp had a pale red lens, or so I thought, until I took it off to take out the old headliner. I found this in the lens!

I think this wire was for the trucked radio system. Does this look familiar to anyone?

The glove box was cut out for the radio head unit, maybe?

One of the things I love about Arizona cars, zero rust! The floors are perfect.

This is a fun build. Can't wait to drive it!
