For sale, a 1986 mustang lx 5.0 5 speed four eye coupe ssp (special service package) with chrome trim package, very rare, that was a Utah highway patrol car. This is a real ssp coupe verified on specialservicemustangs.net website. One of only 415 ever produced, and one of 30 ssp cars with dso (domestic special order) # 76-0048 that were shipped from the Ford manufacturing plant in Dearborn Michigan, To Arizona, Oregon, and Utah. This car is one of 15 that went to Utah. It was a factory slick top car with only red and blue lights in the back window, no spot light, and no roll cage. It still has the c/b antenna in the trunk that used to be mounted in the center of the rear deck lid. The Utah highway patrol may have used mustangs exclusivly for a few years. Very rare car indeed, these cars are only going up in value.
I bought the car as a roller and have since dropped in a 1992 5.0 gt engine that only had 78k miles when pulled. The engine is bone stock, and still has the factory dated 1992 spark plug wires. Its been converted to mass air and I installed an untouched 89 5.0 a9t mass air computer. The 5 speed trans shifts perfect, nice light pedal pressure with newer clutch and alum quadrant. It passed emissions with flying colors on February 12th, 2013. Emissions tag to go with new owner, good for 2 years.
I have gone through this car with a fine tooth comb, front to back. This car is real fast with only the stock engine and 4.10 gears. Weighs only 2700 lbs!
Here is the list of everything I've done and all the new parts installed.

Drive train:
5.0 engine from 92 gt, 78k miles
new flywheel
new pilot shaft bearing
new rear main seal
new oil pan Gasket
new starter
new drive shaft yoke and u joints
new alternator
newer clutch w/2k miles
new thermostat

Interior:
new heater core
new heater fan motor
Custom 86 svo sport horn pad
Explorer front seats nice looking, comfortable, match rear seat
Kenwood cd
Manual crank Windows
Rear defrost
a/c needs a few hoses

Rear end:
8.8 with 4.10 gears
new axle bearings and seals
newer axles out of 92 gt.
rear brake shoes only have 2k miles
Fuel pump brand new with 1 year warranty
new fuel filter
fuel tank replaced

exterior:
custom 3 color paint about 5 years old, looks pretty good other than a couple lil knicks, scratches, dings.
3" fiber glass cowl hood fits nice
brand new four eye head lights and high beams
new exterior window dew wipes with chrome trim, (hard to find)

exhaust
stock headers and h-pipe with bullet style mufflers and chrome 2" tips, sounds great

extras:
bolt in tubular subframe connectors
nice weld draglites front and rear
line lock, works great

Only down falls or cons would be the factory blue interior is what it is, and one of the previous owners put some kind of bed liner or rhino liner under the hood in the engine bay, as you can see in the pics. A lil surface rust on the bottoms of the doors that is totally fixable, and a lil rust coming through under passenger side seat floor pan that is fixable. Driver side floor pan good.
No gimmicks, no scams, no trades, cash only, possibly take cashiers check with right buyer. don't waste my time and I won't waste yours

I was texting with the seller, who sent me a picture of the VIN label. Here is the revised page for this SSP:

I always love when someone makes of point of mentioning how rare what they are selling is, yet they seem to have not given much consideration to the rarity with has been done with what they are selling. This one certainly is not among the worst we have seen , unfortunately.
