I bet he has a trick for figuring out the door jamb sticker. Because it was one of those labels, there wouldn't have been adhesive where the letters and number were. So if you can use a UV light, or something like that, there should be a way to see only the adhesive there... and thus the negative for the unit number. Hopefully he chimes in here...
Yes, that is correct. UV lighting helps in identifying problems with adhesives and plastic labels that have been glued over things in a car...which is used in identifying fraudulent labels on ID tags for cars when they are suspected stolen.

Check this out!

I stared and stared at that number using different lighting with no result.
I could only read the M6-3 . I didnt want to clean it in fear of wiping it off. After so long of being frustrated, I decided to clean it all off and low and behold, the outline of the numbers was a tiny bit more shiny than the surrounding paint. There it was M6-357! I was dancing around the shop!!!

Thankyou Chris for pushing me to look harder!

Awesome Ted! That is fantastic news! And now that you mention it, I have your label for your '88 sitting here at my desk. I'll make one up for the '86 and send them both to you.

I sit in it every day like a kid with no license.
Today I was sitting in the car and I pulled the passenger sun visor down and there was a quick reference card for a Motorola Syntor X9000!
I guess I'll be looking for one of those.

I can't wait!!
Thanks for all the support y'all!
