Awesome find.
I hope to find something like this someday, especially an RCMP unit but time will tell. I am new to this site too but seeing your car made me think it was time to join and start researching what I might get someday. There are a lot of US states closer to me than Western Canada or BC so it may end up being something from south of the border. I know there is not much information on the RCMP units but as I was searching for more information I came across this site which has some great pictures of some RCMP SSP’s in Blue and White and in the new paint scheme of white. (I am probably dating myself as the “new” paint scheme has been around since 1993.) The site is http://policecanada.ca/ I found a shot of a car that looks close to yours, I'm not sure about the different shades of blue used though. rcmpblue119-1.jpg The hole in the front of your car looks just like this unit as well as the 2 holes on the top of the bumper for the lights. I wonder if anyone has information on what that hole was for, was it roughed in for a siren or is it just plain old battle damage. Congratulations Sean |

RCMP SSP!
That very roughly cut hole is indeed for the siren/PA speaker. The holes on the bumper cover are for the grille lights which were also used as deck lights. They were made in Spain. My SSP, '89 X-RCMP used in British Columbia is one serial number away from John's. Mine came to me less interior and drive train.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes and information, haven't been able to do anything with the car but tuck it away for a bit. I have one job in the shop taking longer than I wanted and probably won't get to start this for another month or so. Going to strip it down, complete paint and body, then clean up what I can and replace the stuff that isn't salvageable. Don't think I will be putting any of the lights and stuff on it but that could always be added later. I will post pics once the works begins, it's killing me not being able to start on it, but I don't want to get head of myself. Cheers everyone
