Gas in KCMO today is $3.27 to $3.29 gal.
Light show. Since I won that event last year I had to ask why. The 3 Indiana Troopers based their judging on " Officer Safety". My FHP 381 is original with the FHP Blue lights. We had 48 vintage Police Cars registered, 12 SSP showed up, most all were ORG. members. There is a push this year by Copcamaro to get 6 to 7 B4C in one location. The Org members have no problem in getting to gether, enjoying the cars and friendship, promoting the SSP. Yes Net member are invited to PCOOA and might injoy some of the Org members. Motor Escort was done to get 48 cars througth traffic. No lights & no sirens from the 48. It does not take much to screw traffic up. I would welcome Net members to PCOOA. You have a MCA show in Dallas in two weeks. 6 Org SSP Members coming from all over the US. I notice that Net has several members in Texas & Dallas, I look forward to seeing you there. Those 12 SSP members enjoying friendship, getting together and showing the cars. PCOOA is in my backyard this year. I look forward to those Org members who are coming and would welcome the Net members to the event. Somehow we want to trash an event that has not even happened. |

No one here is trying to trash the event, but we are very careful about who we hang out with and how the SSP hobby is "promoted". Light shows, videos of staged pursuits, Mustangs with LED e-lighting on them, people parking in circles in parking lots (drinking) with lights flashing while drawing chalk outlines of bodies are all things that are not what I'd consider positive promotions of the hobby. If you know the PCOOA history and choose to hang out with them, good for you. If you know the history of how some members from ORG act at car shows and hang out with them, again, good for you. Personally, I choose not to associate myself or the hobby with some of the types of people that you do. I also choose not to go to car shows with guys who are driving "restored" 2000-ish Crown Vics around. It's my personal choice, just as it is yours, and I'm apparently not alone. Many others here on NET and elsewhere feel the same way. That's all. It's not a NET v/s ORG thing, as there are good members of both. BTW....I'm not sure which car is yours, but I didn't see any FHP cars in the video that Mike posted last year that were original with respect to the lighting.

Mike - I just want to go on the record and say if I attended an event where people did the kinds of inappropriate and unsanctioned things you describe, I would be done and not further associate myself with them...period and end of story. I'm a professional in my work and personal life and don't have tolerance for that sort of thing.
Plenty of folks have been in this hobby longer than I have and experienced different sorts of things over the years...many of which have been documented. Some have had occassion to run unsavory people off from events, forums, etc. Relatively speaking I'm a newbee but in a few years have worked hard to contribute in as valuable and professional a manner as possible. I'm a pretty good judge of character and come from the Show-Me state. The past is important and helpful to know and it can be an indicator the future. But I don't live by the past or exclusively on experiences of others...rather I try and supplement those by using my own eyes and ears to see and hear for myself. We have a delicate hobby and I take it very seriously. People I have met in person from the SSP hobby seem to take it seriously as well. I enjoy socializing with others who enjoy the hobby, seeing the various cars (the diamonds in the rough too), and the camaraderie that comes with it. This hobby seems to have quite an interesting history and I do respect your opinion. I'll continue to move forward, enjoy participating in the hobby, while at the same time keep my eyes and ears open and my "antenna" up from a professionalism standpoint.

I didn't attend any events where I witnessed the conduct I described firsthand, but I didn't have to. It was publicly posted about, commented on, and encouraged. Some of those posts have since been removed, some you can still find. PM me if you need more on that. By all means....use your own judgment and make your own conclusions (that's what I do). I posted what I did originally to assist people, like yourself, who may not have known. It's no different, for the unsuspecting, than a hazard ahead sign on the side of the road. My .02.

I bring this up because I've come to realize that ALL of us in the SSP hobby need to act responsibly when taking our cars out in public. It would be a shame if the careless act(s) of a few ruined the fun for the rest of us.

Good question! There are a few reasons. One of them is actually some of the very issues we are talking about in this thread. It's embarassing to see some of what has been going on, and I really don't want to be associated with those aspects of the hobby. I think we are moving in the right direction here, and I recently had a conversation with another member about getting one finished and making some shows. Another reason is that I have 2 Harleys sitting in the garage and I'm currently in the process of building up one, a 2011 FLHTP. Here's a pic of the VRod (I'm done with the mods to it).

Here's the police 'Glide. All the lights are coming off as soon as I can get FLHX turn signals and the FLHX rear fender mounted.
