Question Specific Products ?

Hey Guys,

I keep seeing this "warning" with the taillight flashers. Any specific model that works with our cars?

THANK YOU!!!!!

II. INSTALLATION.
WARNING
DO NOT connect flasher to brake light circuit of FORD
vehicles.
Ford Motor Company technical service bulletins TSB 99-
09-10 and TSB 99-13-09 advises against modifying the
brake circuit (Circuit 511) or any electrical interface with
brake lamps. Connection of aftermarket electrical
equipment into this circuit may interfere with the brake
shift interlock.
This could cause the vehicle to unexpectedly move
forward causing possible property damage, injury or
death to the vehicle operator or others

You should be OK...there were some issues with Crown Vics and shift interlocks being disabled.

Remember the correct wire coloring in the trunk!

I hooked mine up years ago, in the dark and in a hurry.

Tried it out and all I heard was a hum on, hum off, hum on, hum off.

??? Sounded like the fuel pump.

Sure enough, there is a pink with black wire, and a black with pink wire.

So much for being in a hurry the night before an event!

You can wire in a regular headlight flasher too if it's done properly. If your car is a maunal then then there is no concern regarding the auto transmission shift interlock. However, the warning given for flashing taillights applies to all Fords with an auto transmission, Crown Vic, Mustang, Trucks, etc. What flashing the tailights can do is disable the vehicles shift interlock, basically you can shift the car out of park without depressing the brake when the flasher is on. It's more of a CYA thing for Ford and the maker of the flasher, it's not like the vehicle will spontaneously shift itself out of park and drive off like KITT could do!
