Default In the market...

Greetings all.
Though I'd stop in to this well known forum to see what's available in the SSP market. I've been involved in restoring police vehicles for about 20 years and I'm in the market for a new project.

I'm not sure I'll end up with an SSP, but I do respect a well done restoration.

Welcome to the madness! Do you have any preference on agency? What about condition? I see you are looking for a project, but that description still leaves the field pretty open...

Thanks for the welcomes.
I don't have a definite preference yet, but I'm leaning towards an older NYSP car. I've done two already, both were sold to retired Troopers. But I'm open to other possibilities. I'm in a good position, I'll consider just about anything and I'm in no rush.

Welcome to the clubhouse! I think you'll find an SSP project most satisfying. The biggest difference between one of these and a more traditional police car restoration is that being a Mustang, it will have some pretty wide appeal over a fairly wider age group too. That and you can afford to sink a bit more money into them as the values of the best finished units will support a bigger budget.

Ooops, I'm slipping! Hey Tom, you must check Jerry's car out for sure. There is not another restored '91 CHP in existence and his has the possibility of being done as a specially marked unit (SMPV), also none in existence yet.

This would be a fairly straight forward project and I believe the last CHP Mustang up in your area left to come back "home" a couple of years ago.

Michael, no offense intended but as a point of correction, no all-white SMPV's (Specially Marked Patrol Vehicles) have been found yet. There's a member here and on ORG, E435300_SMPV, who has a blue & white '89 CHP SMPV. It's not fully restored yet, but I hear its coming along.
