I'll get some pictures together and measure the bumper opening when I have a few minutes. I've removed a lot of the trim in prep for paint, so the car looks particularly ragged (great for before and after pictures, though).

My wife thinks I'm nuts.

ALL our wives think we're nuts! Welcome aboard. It's all about fun so indulge!

welcome to the site. Be sure to check out the resto doc posted here as it has a wealth of good information.
Jim, I've used you and your collection on several occasions as exhibit "A" when discussing my Mustang/car obsession with my wife. Unfortunately I agreed to a 4 vehicle limit (not including my daily driver and cabin plow truck) about 4 years ago after I dug a 69 Mach 1 out of a field and told her I was going to restore it. $70k to restore a car that might be worth $50k when completed did not make $ense to my wife and I agreed and sold it a month later for parts. Thanks for making it a little easier for all of us.

my wife has put up with a lot but believe me she is well aware that I have accomplished my goal +1 extra 84 car. She has made it very obvious to me that I am done buying police mustangs and I am ok with that. For now they are all safe in dry climate controlled storage so I am not in any hurry to get them all done. Planning on doing one car at a time so in about 13 years I should be finishing up.

I'll be 67 then (and hopefully retired), can I come to the SSP completion party?

These '85 Stangs come up more often than the '86 models. Where the heck are the '86 Mustangs? My favorite year!
I find an '86 with high miles or an '85 with low miles. I can never seem to find exactly what I want. I always feel like I am settling when I buy a Mustang.

WANTED:
1986 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 sedan (or GT w/T-tops)
Any color preferably w/automatic trans.
No mods or engine add-ons.
Desire less than 18,000 miles and in good, clean, well-kept, adult, non-raced condition.

I came across an '86 LX 5.0 sedan back in 2005 but it was filthy and had 217,000 miles on it. Then I saw an '86 recently on eBay with 115,000 miles.
Both of these were red with gray interior. Someone I know has an '85 LX 5.0 sedan with 10,000 org miles (very clean) but it's an '85!
The search continues! Oh yeah...and it doesn't have to be an SSP.

Andy, for only 155 '85 CHP Mustangs being used, it's surprising how many cars are still out there. Including the cars where we have in-service pics, the known 85's are:

UNIT # .... OWNER/CONTACT INFO
-------------------------------------------------
E408302 ... Marcos / Jarhed123 @ NET
E408315 ... Greg / My66Pony @ ORG
E408321 ... Unknown (CHP Magazine)
E408336 ... Rich / chp8336 on ORG
E408354 ... Unknown (CHP Magazine)
E408395 ... Bill / 28HopUp @ NET/ORG
E408397 ... Andy @ NET
E408419 ... Brian / rocketscience @ NET
E408427 ... Unknown (CHP Magazine)
E408445 ... Unknown (SMPV photo)
E40____ ... wsharp227 @ ORG
E40____ ... Ebay ad
E40____ ... Unknown (listed on ORG's VIN Registry)

So by my count there are Seven 85 CHP Amigos between the two sites.
