Congrats on the purchase! If you get the DSO off of the door tag, that will more or less confirm it being an SSP very easily. I actually called on that car, but being that he said it had a red interior I figured it wasn't an SSP. Looks like I'm probably wrong, thanks for saving it!

Congrats on the new purchase! Please post up some pictures once you have brought it home.

I wanted to comment on that statement for clarification, as I recently had a a discussion with another member about DSO's. For the benefit of new/future members, all SSP's will have a 6-digit DSO, however not all cars with a 6-digit DSO are SSP's. Regular Mustangs may have been specially ordered for other reasons, and could have had a 6-digit DSO.

253272 is within a batch of just two VINs, along with 253273.

And to go along with six-digit DSO not always being SSP, I have 11 Mustangs and 20 Capris in the 79-86 database I've been building, that have six-digit DSOs.

To take it a step further, some agencies even special-ordered regular-production Mustangs and put them into service. Therefore, you could have the service records from the agency and a 6-digit DSO, yet still not be an SSP.

I have pics of several non-package DSO 83 cars, and one was on eBay not too long ago as well.

Default 1986 5.0 5 speed coupe

I only got to see 2 pic's on this car and the fact that it had a electric fan,new clutch short shifter, long tubes, borlas and that was it cause the guy was out of state when I bought the car and his wife was not much help, the guy didn't even know what the speedo went up to cause he did not drive the car much,so I don't really know what I'm getting but the price was right so I went for it,the car should be here in chicago sat or sunday then I will know more, but the carfax shows that it had one owner from 86 to 98 and only had 68,000 miles and thats why I thought it mite be an SSP but I don't think it is but it could be a low opition coupe cause I do know it has crank windows and manual locks,I hope it don't have ac then I would really be happy, and since this car has spent all of its life in cali and the last 6 in az I'm hoping it will be rust free as the owner said it is,and if I don't like it I will put all i have together and spend about 4,000 and get a nice SSP I know of already and I mite get it anyway when I get my income tax money

Sorry to hear about that. Just curious why you sold the 88 MSHP SSP? Did it need a lot of work?
