Clark came through as promised on his SC auction paperwork. There were 7 Mustangs auctioned that day:

Clark also included auction documentation that was specific for his own SSP, which I just added to his car's page:

:D

Seeing the above auction information, I decided to contact the South Carolina Surplus Property Office to see if they had similar auction sheets for the same time period. Sadly, their records are not kept after 6 years. :( It was worth a shot...

1992 Auto Check

I ran and Auto Check and Car Fax today on the 92 PA SSP. The funny thing is the Auto Check pick up the police title where Car Fax didn't.

28HopUp 10-23-2013 09:23 AM

I contacted a member from FEP who posted a picture of his car's Buck Tag. The tag is marked "TRUSVILLE ALABAMA", which is for Trussville, AL obviously. The owner, Chad, emailed me a photo of a portion of his Marti Report, and said we could include his SSP in our Project, as seen here:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info171314.htm

Thanks Chad (and Mick, for the heads up). :)

FoxChassis 10-23-2013 09:38 AM

Cool!

Bill, If you didn't already know that is a single VIN. The one before and after are both LX 5.0L convertibles.

I was able to properly extract the ZIP file and save it so that all of the AutoCheck picture files came with it. I then added the report to the page for your SSP, as seen here (the link is at the bottom of the page):

We rec'd one Marti Report over the weekend for a 1983 Washington State Police Mustang (its agency usage is still unconfirmed) -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info165425.htm

Bobby also sent over some pictures for a 1993 FHP Mustang -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info154596.htm

And then there is the 1993 SSP still owned by the NCSHP, that MOstang just posted in another thread -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info198379.htm

We have a few more Marti Reports in the works, but presently we now have over 2,600 SSP Mustangs confirmed in our VIN Project! :D

Wow, what a fantastic resource!! A ton of leg work and dedication to get to this point! A big thank you to all of you involved in making it such a success!! ;)

Bill,
Another 91 GSP to add to Vin Project:-)

28HopUp 10-30-2013 11:30 AM

Nice find, Bobby! I will get that one added to our Project. At some point in the near future, I would like to send you a list of the currently documented GSP Mustangs and have you match the GSP numbers to the VINs. Then I can add them to each of the pages. :)

I'll try to work on that this week end Bill :-)

28HopUp 10-30-2013 01:46 PM

Thanks Bobby! I just emailed you an Excel worksheet with the VINs of GSP Mustangs currently in the Project. I will let you fill in the blanks with the GSP data. ;)

28HopUp 11-08-2013 10:21 AM

As we all know, Bobby aka kapracing is highly focused on the GSP Mustangs. He was able to confirm the VINs on many cars with GSP paperwork that he may eventually receive permission to publish online. Til then, we still have to rely on our traditional methods to confirm SSP Mustangs.

Bobby stepped up to have some Marti Reports run on a few VINs from a 91-car batch of 1991 VINs containing the GSP Mustangs that year. However, the first 2 cars in that batch were not GSP cars, nor were the final 6 cars in that batch. So we ran reports on the neighboring VINs to the GSP batch, as well as the final VIN in that batch. It turns out that these cars are also SSP Mustangs:

1FACP40E7MF176449
1FACP40E3MF176450 (AutoCheck Report on MF76450.htm)
1FACP40E5MF176451 (still to be confirmed as 1st GSP in batch)
.
.
.
1FACP40E7MF176533 (still to be confirmed as final GSP in batch)
1FACP40E9MF176534 (AutoCheck Report on MF76534.htm)
1FACP40E0MF176535
1FACP40E2MF176536
1FACP40E4MF176537
1FACP40E6MF176538
1FACP40E8MF176539 (AutoCheck Report on MF76539.htm)
--------91--------

Kevin Marti confirmed that MF176450 was ordered by a dealer in Virginia through a DSO in Washington DC, but the car was shipped to a dealer in Illinois for an unknown reason. It is also interesting to see that the AC report for MF176539 shows that the car was shipped to Hawaii. It's amazing what can be turned up, isn't it? :)

Why Bill,
You make it sound like I'm a bit biased? LOL
I guess I sorta am... Ohh well... :-)

You are doing a great job on the VIN PROJECT !

Hey Bill,
Here's the 91 GSP that my engine came out of. Greg (UNMRKD) located it for me but the price is WAY too steep for me 8k as roller. But we can at least add one more to VIN PROJECT :-)

Magazine article

Nice car but too much would have to be changed and price is more than I can buy whole closer to original cars for...

kapracing 11-17-2013 10:03 PM

For those that did not know I have the original engine from this car. It was in another GSP I'm restoring and Greg (UNMRKD) located it for me down in Bonaire Ga. It is for sale and I would love to reunite the original engine to chassis but his asking price will not allow that to happen (8k as roller) and most parts are incorrect and would have to be replaced as well as replacing inner fender aprons... Car is a nice DRAG CAR but this project is not to be... :-(

28HopUp 11-18-2013 10:26 AM

Thanks Bobby! Here is the new page for this SSP -

We have a few more Marti Reports in the works, but they may not arrive until after the Thanksgiving holiday. Using AutoCheck reports (the account has now expired), we searched for VINs to pinpoint start/finish ranges for certain agencies. Here's what we are fishing for with Marti Reports:
  • the VIN just prior to the batch of 1983 TxDPS cars.
  • the last 1985 Oklahoma SSP next to the first 1985 Nebraska SSP (contained in the same VIN group)
  • the last 1988 CHP and who knows after it?
  • a 1990 Wisconsin SSP
  • the first and last 1991 Georgia State Patrol Mustangs, as well as the VINs before and after them.

Stay tuned!

Just old fashion leg work :-)
This one was unit 1188 and went to Floyd county after decommissioned and first used as undercover unit ( they had it painted red). It was then used as a DARE car by them and then sold to a dealer of old police units, which had it re painted back to GSP blue and silver ( incorrectly as was originally gray not silver). It was then purchased by current owner from that dealer for $4250 in 2002...

Not my first choice, but if I cannot get my first choice it's possible :-)

28HopUp 12-03-2013 07:34 PM

I rec'd an email from an inactive member here (tiannawin) who wanted his SSP added to our Project. It is a 1993 GSA car with the same DSO number as the USPS cars, which are contained in the same batch of VINs. Here is the new page using the pictures and Marti report that Mindo sent to me:

Thanks again! :)

Alabama DPS Auction Paperwork

1 Attachment(s)
A big THANK YOU goes out to Brad (aka nighthawk756) who was able to obtain copies of original Alabama DPS auction paperwork for 16 of the 31 '88 SSP Mustangs. :D Two of these cars were already listed in our Project with unit numbers, but we have now been able to include the unit numbers on 14 other SSP Mustangs. Here is an example of a page we were able to revise:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info261750.htm

There is a link on the bottom of each of the respective pages to a PDF file containing the auction paperwork (the SSPs are on page 2). This is VERY cool stuff, and I really appreciate Brad's diligence in supplying us with the redacted pages. :) Below is a screenshot showing all of the VINs that now have Alabama DPS unit numbers associated with them.

EDIT: I fixed the typo on JF261743

kapracing 12-04-2013 09:19 PM

WAY TO GO BRAD !!!
:-)

And as usual great job Bill :-)

MOstang 12-04-2013 10:22 PM

Very nice!

nighthawk756 12-05-2013 04:47 PM

No problem! Glad I was able to find the info....I still have to go back and do a little more digging in other buildings to try and find the rest of it. ;)
