So far we have received two of the six reports from Marti Auto this week. The first report was used to confirm a 1985 TxDPS car that we already had listed in the Project using the auction reports, and the Marti definitely confirms that the car came equipped with the SSP option:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info188603.htm

The second one is a 1986 car believed to be a Oregon State Police car. It is in a group of only two consecutive VINs. We only had a partial view of the Buck Tag (which says OREGON), so we waited to confirm it as a SSP for the Project until we had the Marti Report in-hand:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info221267.htm

Two of the remaining Marti Reports are for likely GSA cars (based upon one's AutoCheck history and the other has in-service photos). The other two are for 1990 FHP Mustangs, which should allow us to lock in a high/low range for that batch of VINs. We have Florida DMV "Police Title" histories on 68 cars in this particular batch of VINs. :)

Here's a SSP I have been wanting to add to the Project for a while. I found the pictures online of the U.S. Border Patrol Mustang, and tried to contact the photographer about them. I made due diligence, but was unsuccessful in my attempt. So I left the photo credits in place for each of his photos. The Marti Report just came in, so I added the car to our Project:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info289707.htm

There had been some previous speculation that this car might have been a TxDPS run-out, but the car was ordered by the GSA under DSO #83-0200. Pretty cool!

VERY COOL !!!

Whats up with the hood off and looks like a piece of plexi glass on it?

I think the USBP was very proud of the FIVE POINT OH and wanted to show it off!

FoxChassis 04-04-2014 01:45 PM

All five in that USBP group went to MO originally. So they all could possible be the same DSO.

JF289707 - MO 1988
JF289708 - MO 1988 > Denton 1996-97 > TX 1999 > Dallas 1999-00 > Mequite 2002 > TX 2005 > Mequite 2005 > Dallas 2005
JF289709 - MO 1988 > TX 1988 > Houton 1994 > Wellston OK 1996 > Ada 1996 > Oklahoma City 1997-2013

Could be, Mick.

The two 1990 FHPs came back (LF159223 and LF159321), but their DSOs are different. So the one batch had at least two DSOs contained therein, which means I cannot confirm all of the cars with Florida DMV police title histories from that batch. I have a photo of a buck tag for LF159300 that has the same DSO as LF159321, so the 17 or so cars in between with DMV hits can be added.

EDIT:

There is a batch of 48 VINs from 1985 starting with FF208432 which had AutoCheck histories that indicated they were ordered by the GSA. We took a chance to see if they might be SSP Mustangs, and ordered a Marti Report for the first one in the batch. It came back as a regular DSO #83 Mustang. Attached is a PDF copy of the Marti Report.

Bill,
Here's john Gullett's 1990 GSP to add to the VIN Project. He did not even realize it was a GSP.

Haha Marcos! Thank you!!!

For those of you who may be wondering why I LOL'd at him, I sent Marcos a USB drive so he could copy his collection of SSP pictures and other files that he's collected over the years. This contribution to our VIN Project will be HUGE!

Thanks Bobby! Was the seller able to get you a photo of the Buck Tags? That would prove this car to be a SSP. Otherwise we would need to run a Mari Report to confirm it as a SSP.

I'll get it. It just says DSO POLICE

1985 CSP

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=4872

The above car was recently sold, and the seller sent me the following photo of its VIN label:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...206193vin2.jpg

The car reportedly is a Colorado SP Mustang, and is part of a batch of 13 consecutive VINs:
1FABP26M6FF206185 - [AC report shows it went to MA originally]
1FABP26M8FF206186 - [AC report shows it went to TX originally]
1FABP26MXFF206187 - [AC report shows it went to TX originally]
1FABP26M1FF206188 - [unconfirmed as Nevada HP]
1FABP26M3FF206189 - Nevada Highway Patrol
1FABP26MXFF206190 - [unconfirmed as the wrecked Nevada HP Mustang]
1FABP26M1FF206191 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M3FF206192 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M5FF206193 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M7FF206194 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M9FF206195 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M0FF206196 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M2FF206197 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
----------13-----------

Note, that the first three cars in the batch may not be SSP Mustangs. This car's VIN is only a few numbers off from the three Nevada SSP Mustangs, and the AC reports show that the final seven cars all went to Colorado when originally delivered. Unless we receive a photo of the Buck Tags, we will have to confirm this one as a SSP through a Marti Report. It is also interesting to note that there is another batch of VINs from 1985 that we believe contain some CSP Mustangs:
1FABP26M7FF235050 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M9FF235051 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M0FF235052 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M2FF235053 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M4FF235054 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M6FF235055 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M8FF235056 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26MXFF235057 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
----------8---------
We hope to someday pinpoint with certainty which of the above VINs are SSP Mustangs used by the CSP. :)

I went through and organized the USB drive that Marcos filled with folders of SSP pictures. I can readily post (as time allows) 72 new SSPs to the Project. Then there are 77 new photos I can add to existing SSPs in the Project. Finally, there are 65 cars which have weak documentation (like only having a VIN label). These are interesting because in 32 instances they are in batches with no other documented SSP Mustangs so far. This allows us to look at VINs that we otherwise might not have considered. :)

Thanks Marcos!!!

Nice. It has the correct vascar and radio setup. Very hard radio to locate.....they are all but gone now.

MOstang 04-18-2014 01:10 PM

Greg Sullins car...He used drawing and measurements I provided from SSP NC still owns to perfectly recreate the radio tree. NC Prison Industries made originals.

28HopUp 04-20-2014 07:23 AM

Thanks for the photos, Bobby!

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info198396.htm

This one is the highest VIN in that batch of NC cars, and this one's DSO is one digit higher than the others. ;)

nighthawk756 04-20-2014 09:44 PM

Mick, I have a friend that has an SSP that is trying to determine agency. He knows it's a long shot since the tag only says DSO Police. It has an Atlanta DSO....21-0815. VIN is 1facp40e8pf202867

Thanks Mick and Bill!

FoxChassis 04-20-2014 10:34 PM

The 14-VIN group that it is in (PF202862-PF202875) has a couple of other known SSPs. One of them is PF202870, an unconfirmed Clayton Co GA car, that is one special order number after this one. It is also an Atlanta DSO...21-0816.

I have not run a report on this VIN but I don't know if Bill has.

Alabama title was issued in late March 2012.

Thanks Mick. The AL title will be him.

I need to check and see if he's ordered a Marti for it or not.

Brad: See if your buddy can snap some pics of the door tag and buck tag(s). Although the DSO buck tag is of no help to ID the agency (i.e. only says "DSO POLICE"), the sales office is the same as another in the same group and the special order number is only one off. It is possible it is from the same agency (the purported Clayton Co car also says "DSO POLICE"), so comparing the codes on the door and buck tags would help some.

It could be a case of two different special order numbers because of agency usage, or different paint colors, or different interior colors, or different transmission, etc.

The purported Clayton Co car (PF292870) had:
WB Vibrant White paint
FJ Black cloth low-back front buckets
air conditioner
rear defrost

nighthawk756 04-21-2014 12:24 PM

He said the door's been replaced so no door sticker but he's going to try to get me a good pic of the tags.

I'll post them when he gets them to me.

Here's the pic he sent me of the buck tags....

FoxChassis 04-23-2014 08:34 PM

Scheduled to be built on the same day (July 19, 1993) as the purported Clayton Co car but their rotations numbers are over 100 units apart. Probably because they had different paint colors. The interior trim type and colors are also different.

Sorry...I'm no closer to figuring it out.

nighthawk756 04-23-2014 08:38 PM

Thanks Mick! It was wishful thinking anyway....

FoxChassis 04-23-2014 08:56 PM

Only other thing I can think of is comparing the dealer number from Marti reports but we don't have one for the purported Clayton Co car. And that really could be a coincidence if they are the same.

Yeah, I told him it would be a good idea to get a Marti since we would know the ordering dealer. It's the only other option I know of to try and track it down.

FoxChassis 04-23-2014 10:36 PM

Be sure to order the deluxe report if you want the dealer number and name. The basic report has the dealer number but no name.
