Thanks for sharing that Jim. I read that before on the Four Eyed Pride wesbite, and it certainly has merit. Their forum is much like this one: most members have a passion for the cars; many members own multiple examples; cars are frequently sold between each other; and the members look out for each other.

I find it interesting how these SSP's continue to turn up. The internet and televised high-dollar auctions have certainly changed the dynamic of buying and selling old cars. I can remember waiting for the next copy of Hemmings Motors News to arrive in the mail. Those days are long gone, in the age of instant information. I'm not wishing for the good ole days. Technology has improved our hobby, and created many resources for finding, restoring, and enjoying these old cars with other nutjobs who share our same passion.

thanks Bill and it's always great to know us "nutjobs" :) think alike on some issues. I think the post is right on target. It is not specifically targeting an individual, but it does target a group of individuals that buy cars, then sell them at inflated prices. Besides all the issues about misrepresentation, and "looking for sympathy" tactics that some sellers use, the real bottom line is always about making money, or having a tax write off for your business etc.

I had a conversation with a member last night who told me they wanted to buy a car a couple of months ago and couldn't get the money together quick enough. The car sold and then two weeks later it was listed on EBAY for 4k more. That car will now languish in "flipperville" until the new owner comes to their senses. There isn't anything we can do about it so the best thing to do is just forget and ignore the car. regardless of the hobby, these types of "members" will continue to contribute negatively. It is what it is. :thumbsdown:

that said.... I need to get back to the sand blaster. The TXDPS car has a date with the painter in the near future.

a little birdie told me that the seller will let it go for 9000.00. hopefully the "scratch" described doesn't require a repaint? Based on my experience I would request a very good photo and description of the length, depth etc.
That way there will be no suprises when it arrives on your doorstep. :thumbsup:

In my opinion, the car in question was a hurry up and get it done vehicle. Inaccurate in most all respects etc. Had several owners. One, several times. I am not aware of any documentation that goes with it either. If a person is willing to spend 9...10...13k, which I believe was the buy it now price originally, why not stretch and get a fully documented vehicle for the investment dollar? The money would be better spent. Again... my opinion.

I think we've discussed this one enough. Either it sells or it doesn't. I'm glad to see that the seller wasn't able to get $13K+ for a car that he's willing to sell for $8.5K.
