I do not have any more photos of this car, but hopefully TruperTim will log on and post some up!

1992 SSP from Massachusetts

Buck Tag pictures were provided for the following SSP -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info151757.htm

The car is thought to have been ordered by a local agency in Massachusetts. The car popped up on the other site, and I am sorry to report that the owner/seller is planning to gut the car of its drivetrain to use it for a kit car of some type. :( At least this SSP lives on in our VIN Project.

28HopUp 08-05-2014 09:38 AM

The Buck Tag from a 1988 Government SSP was posted on a Facebook SSP group page, which we used to create the following page in our VIN Project -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info278558.htm

Thanks go out to Mick for his expertise regarding the VIN for this SSP/batch. ;)

28HopUp 08-07-2014 11:04 AM

Another SSP found by Mick -

He dove into the California DMV smog info, and found a 1993 CHP with smog data on a VIN showing a vehicle description of "MUSTANG CHP", which also matched up to another E-plate number:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info111918.htm

Nicely done!

FoxChassis 08-07-2014 11:49 AM

I sent Bill a few more I matched up.

Could use some help running E-plate numbers and VINs through the CA DMV smog site, copying the "Test Records" info, and saving to a file.

Contact me for more info if you want to help out. This is easy work, just lots of it to do. ;)

Got all of the 1993 CHP smog history for the E-plates and VINs gone through. I sent Bill a list of matches. Be on the lookout for a few dozen more 1993 CHP pages. :D

Could use some help grabbing more data. Here is where I put it all for CHPs: http://foxchassis.com/files/SSP/CASmogCertificates.xlsx

28HopUp 08-15-2014 06:55 PM

Now that we're back in town, I should have time to add some SSPs to the Project using the smog matches, as well as a few expanded FHP ranges using newly obtained Marti Reports. :)

kapracing 08-15-2014 07:46 PM

:2thumbs:

Look forward to seeing the newly added SSP's

28HopUp 08-17-2014 04:30 PM

New Marti Reports

We ordered Marti Reports on the following 5 SSPs thought to be FHP Mustangs:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info277955.htm
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info159260.htm
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info161441.htm
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info188138.htm
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info183567.htm

These specific cars were selected because they were at the beginning or ending of FHP batches where we found additional cars using the Florida DMV online site that showed police-branded titles. We were hoping to confirm the DSO numbers to add a series of cars. Only two of these cars came back with a matching DSO number to another car in the batch, so in those instances where we established a specific VIN range for a DSO, we were able to add SSPs to the Project that had police-branded titles. We were able to add 29 cars that way, as seen here:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info183569.htm

The other three Marti Reports came back with a different DSO number than found in their VIN batch, so those are identified as "Ordering Agency is Unconfirmed". They are most likely FHP cars, but we do not have DSO confirmation to other confirmed FHP cars (yet!).

Thanks Mick! It seems like more data is available now online through the California DMV Smog History site than before. Mick's matches allowed us to add 46 more 1993 CHP Mustangs to the Project! Here is an example of one we added:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info111975.htm

At some point I need to look and see if we have any in-service photos for the Unit Numbers that we just added. :D

28HopUp 08-18-2014 03:34 PM

Jack, aka Va 5.0, sent along some pictures of a 1987 Texas Department of Public Safety Mustang he came across. The Buck Tag and VIN label were long gone, but the unit number was still on the car -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info228199.htm

This one is within a block of VINs with several confirmed TxDPS cars on either side of it. Thanks Jack! :)

28HopUp 08-18-2014 04:47 PM

Using a few more of Mick's smog matches on some 1993 CHP Mustangs, we now have over 3,000 SSP Mustangs confirmed in our VIN Project. Here is the breakdown by year -

1982 025 (does not include the four confirmed hatchbacks)
1983 048
1984 072
1985 254
1986 163
1987 393
1988 311
1989 480
1990 356
1991 201
1992 229
1993 469
---------
. .3,001 TOTAL

THANK YOU everyone who has participated and contributed to this effort!!!

I have an FHP with some mods that was at the Dearborn Mustang Memories Show took pics of buck tags, door label, etc. will send when have breather. Thanks.

28HopUp 08-26-2014 09:37 AM

Thanks Mike!

On another note, here is a link to a 1993 SSP that showed up on CL with a tag from the City of Salisbury, NC -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=5685

Thanks to dougphillips46 for obtaining more pictures on the car, which we were allowed to use for the VIN Project -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info198416.htm

EDIT:

I updated a post made by FoxChassis:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...90&postcount=7

I found a folder with add'l pictures of PF198419, which included the DSO number for the car. So I updated its page i n the Project. :) (DSO #47-0546 means it was ordered through the Cincinnati office)

28HopUp 08-26-2014 05:01 PM

Jonathon sent over pictures of a 1988 SSP orignally from the Manassa Colorado Police department -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info231437.htm

THANKS! :D

MOstang 09-01-2014 05:23 PM

Bill - Just sent you an email with a few pics from an unrestored and somewhat modded FHP SSP that was at the recent Dearborn, MI Mustang Memories all-Ford show. Thought you might be interested in it for the VIN project. Was interesting to see the outline of the old FHP graphics on the black paint.

28HopUp 09-02-2014 11:23 AM

Thank you, Mike! Here is the new page -

Thanks go out to Bobby, who found a 1991 GSP listed in our classifieds (now added below) -

Thanks Bill! What the pics don't show is you could see the outline of the FHP Fender Decals and Door Decals on the original black paint when seeing the car in person.

28HopUp 09-03-2014 10:56 AM

I love seeing unrestored SSPs that still show the paint ghosts of how it was marked. :)

28HopUp 09-04-2014 10:25 AM

Thanks go out to Gary who sent in some pictures of his fresh-out-of-service 1990 Kentucky State Police SSP Mustang -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info154474.htm

This car was recently auctioned off by the KSP, and Gary was top bidder! Congrats and thanks for sending in the photos.

EDIT:
Gary's SSP is the fourth car in a batch of 6 VINs. For some reason, we already ran a Marti Report for the prior VIN to his car, which came back as a civilian car:

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...4473marti1.pdf

:)

:)

Gary was kind enough to send me the VIN label for the sixth and final car in that batch, which has the same DSO as his car -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info154476.htm

:D

He also sent me the VIN label photo for another 1990 KSP car - LF141234 (still owned by the KSP!). For documenting purposes in our Project, we may need to pull a Marti Report on that one. The next car in that batch (LF141235) is believed to be the first car in a batch of Missouri State Highway Patrol Mustangs.

Fatrabbit 09-04-2014 01:04 PM

Just a note from Autocheck on the next car in that list. Autocheck shows the car was built on 02/28/1990. It sold to a person in Rocky Mount, MO on 04/29/1993 with 56,188 miles on it.

That car (LF141235) was also listed for sale on ebay some years ago. Marcos sent me some screenshots of its listing where the seller said he had documentation that it was a MSHP car.

28HopUp 09-08-2014 10:22 AM

Thank you, Bobby -

;)

28HopUp 09-12-2014 02:18 PM

Mike P. forwarded the Marti Report for his yet-to-be-delivered 1990 MSHP Mustang. We had only a blurry photo of the VIN label up 'til now, so we can now add this SSP -

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info141249.htm

Thank you, Mike! We can add more photos once you get the car.

MOstang 09-13-2014 11:34 PM

Thanks Bill. It was ironic you were looking for info on my new SSP the day the Marti Report hit my email.

Bill,
I just traded for another (1 of the 19) 1992 GSP Mustangs. This one was a LoJack car. It was wrecked in service and received a donor drivers door from a 1989 GSP. This is the door sticker from its donor door... I'll post up its documentation soon...

28HopUp 09-15-2014 09:49 AM

Nice find! Thanks for the picture, Bobby!

Hi,
Glad you joined up. Ron's wife just had some medical issues recently. I know he'd love to buy it back, however this may be a bad time for him financially:thumbsdown:

Thanks for emailing the photos to me. I have attached them to this post (I like how you can still see the GSP Perm number (0221) on the radiator support). This is the same car listed for sale in our Classifieds -

Thanks for directing me to the group. I would like for Ron to have his car back but if he cant I understand. I just want the car in someones hands that will take care of the car and appreciate the history behind the car. I hope everything is ok with his wife. If he doesn't buy car you wouldnt happen to know if he has anything that he would let go that goes with the car (pictures etc..)

Thank you
