A guy on FB picked up 3 Utah SSP Mustangs recently - an 86 and two 88s (same VIN batch and same DSO number). The 86 was already in the Project (GF208343), but I added the 88s just now since their DSO number matched other confirmed Utah cars -

That's three (so far) different interior trim color for the same DSO.
JF275815 = FD JF275816 = FD JF275824 = FD JF275834 = FG JF275839 = FY |
Mick, you sure are good about noticing that sorta thing!

You may be right, Mike.
I wanted to give a "THANK YOU" to Mike aka Notch50, who tipped me off about a set of 1990 Utah Buck Tags for sale on ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/121704514463 There are two other Utah cars from that DSO, so I went ahead and added this one (with a notation about the tags being sold separate from the SSP) - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info200905.htm Here's a quote form the ebay listing - Quote:
I remember when folks called a car like that the proper name for it - a FAKE! Sadly, cloning has become acceptable these days... :( |
Bucktags
Not sure why people pull them off at all unless car is junked. 😨
|
That is most likely the situation. I guess there's a small chance that the owner took the tags off and misplaced them, sold the car, and later found them. Like I said, there's just a small chance of that. More than likely the seller stumbled across the car in a junkyard and took them off in order to make a few bucks by selling them online. :No no:
|
Now that the car has made it's way down from Canada, here is a better scan.

Jonathon, THANK YOU for sending the scan. I changed the existing pages to the better image, and added the newly confirmed SSPs (HF170643, HF170644, and HF170645) to the VIN Project. Here is the first one -

Thank you Bobby for providing the GSP documentation to confirm the VIN for an in-service photo of the following 1990 GSP -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info188109.htm Nice job! :) |
Sean aka Bosskraft sent over a PDF copy of the Marti Report for the 88 CHP he purchased, so I added it to the car's page -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info221448.htm Thank you, Sean! |
RobN, aka cbrajt1, up in Canada provided us with the buck tag photos of his 1989 RCMP SSP Mustang -

I have the door tag for KF205747. Will email it later if you don't already have it.
|
Mick, that would be great! Thank you... :)
|
Thanks Mick! I have now added the VIN label to the page.
|
A 1985 Texas DPS car popped up on FB, and the owner sent me some photos for our VIN Project -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info204968.htm Note that the DSO number is not written on the buck tags. |
is he a member here
|
No, I believe he is a member of four eyed pride...

Found a guy on the Fox Body Addicts Facebook page wanting to trade his SSP coupe. Turns out it's a '92 NCSHP car. Black with red interior. It isn't in the project yet. Here's a link to the FB page and a couple pics for the project.

Thank you, Brad, on the 92 car.
Here's a new addition to the Project: a 1988 Pierce County Sheriff Department car, whose page contains the original window sticker - http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info256156.htm The window sticker was actually found in a different car that is still owned by the department. Pretty cool! Thank you, Ryan! :) |

http://www.specialservicemustang.net...info176451.htm I mentioned that this car was totaled in-service but the door was re-used on another GSP unit. ;) |
You are correct Bill,
Yesterday was a very long day and I was exhausted last night...lol Thanks for the corrections:2thumbs: |

Bobby, you quoted my post prior to my edit where I mentioned the car being totaled. That is an assumption on my part, since the car could still exist even though GSP probably sold it as scrap. I changed the page to say the car was wrecked instead of saying it was totaled.
|
Bobby, please double check the following three pages to make sure I have the GSP information correct -

This particular car I am trying to track down. It most likely has been sold as scrape now. But was still around two years ago. It was hit hard in rear quarter but was pulled and quarter cut off and his body man would not finish it. Since then the prior owner (which bought it at auction) has died. I'm waiting to hear from his sister that managed his estate to see if it's still around... Side note the present owner of these two GSP's in prior picture plans to replace both doors, fenders and hood with mint ones he has saved for its restoration. I have made a deal on those body panels so IF the car turns out to still exist I'll will have the original door. If not I'll have some cool wall art lol |
