Roman's Texas DPS Mustang For Sale
For those that have not heard, I have finally arrrived at the decision to sell my 1993 restored Texas Highway Patrol Ford Mustang SSP.
This is not a decision I've arrived at lightly. I've been thinking about it for several months. I've priced it to sell (hopefully) quickly. Information: 1993 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 special service “police package” sedan. Former Texas Highway Patrol Unit #M3-391. Fully restored to in-service condition to include new paint, lights, radio, siren and non-functioning Decatur radar. Restored to historical accuracy in 2002. 145,600 original miles. Was daily driver from 2001-2002. Engine has never been out of the car. 5-speed manual transmission. Interior is 95% perfect. Original AM/FM radio. Original wheels refurbished to brand new condition. New brakes, clutch, throw-out bearing, transmission service and front-end work done in 2002. New headlight lenses and taillight lenses were part of resto job in 2002. Factory million-mile speedometer. Vehicle has original ruby red interior. Two modifications on car include red 9mm Ford Racing spark plug wires and 2-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. A/C blows cold. Heater will cook. New tires in 2007. All documentation and copies of fleet records from the Texas Highway Patrol come with vehicle – sorry, no window sticker. Vehicle was retired from Texas Highway Patrol in October 1997 and sold at Texas DPS auction in February 1998 w/101K miles. Comes with full size spare wheel and brand new mounted Kelly Z rated tire. Current mileage is 145,623 and I bought it w/107K on it in September 1998. Has been babied and garaged since ownership in September 1998. Regular oil changes. Show winner and trailered to most events. Rarely driven in past six years. Current Texas state inspection. Vehicle rides smooth and quiet. Items that have been replaced on engine since 1998: water pump, air conditioning compressor clutch, radiator hoses, spark plugs and wires. Vehicle is mechanically sound. Door ding on passenger door from car show spectator. New windshield in 2006. A few tiny rock chips behind each tire. Vehicle is strong and sound. Vehicle was cared for by assigned trooper and current owner. Never raced, wrecked or abused. Adult driven and maintained since it entered civilian life. Clear Texas title in hand. Selling to pursue and enjoy different avenue in the Mustang hobby. Hate to lose this collector but urge for mid-life change overtakes me. $11,500 SERIOUS Prospectors Only - and must go to caring home. Roman Collins Lufkin, Texas 936-366-3261 www.dpsmustang.com |
awesome car here guys. Price is even better !!!!!!! someone needs to grab this one up.
good luck with the sale Roman. :2thumbs: |
So what are you going to buy next Roman? I could only part with my CHP car for a GT500 at this point.
|
Indulge me, gentlemen. I will make the annoucement of my next purchase if I can sell my Texas DPS Mustang. But I am certain all will support my decision.
I am on a timeline so I hope I can move my SSP SOON! |
I think this car has Jim's name all over it!

Have a friend who is looking. Was the car ever wrecked? Does it have magnetic decals or are they permanent? He wants a driver.
Tom K. |
They are magnetic because Roman drives it some.

Price reduced to $10,500!
Selling because I have convertible fever. Car is not perfect but well worth my asking price. Comes w/functioning lightbar, door emblems, radio and siren and Texas DPS fleet maintenance log. Just rolled 146,000 miles on 01-25-2009. Never raced, wrecked or abused. I have a shelf full of trophies & plaques reflecting its worthiness. Call or email me if interested. |
Roman,
I'm really interested in your car. To be honest with you I'm waiting to see if I still have a job in the next 2 weeks. Company is re-organizing so I will know in about 2wks, if (and I think I will) I come out of this ok I would really like to see it. |
If you are in any way interested in a Texas DPS, this is the car to own. Well worth every penny.
|
Dang shame to see it sell - nice nice car!

Roman..... I hope you still hang around here.
can't believe you sold it but sometimes we do thing's for a reason. ......you have yours! |
Thank you all for your kind words and support. Sometimes we all just need a change of pace and scenery. I respectfully request to remain a member of this SSP forum as a goodwill ambassador of some kind or a consultant.
Who knows - I might even get another SSP one day when I hit that lotto! I will post pictures of my convertible once I make a final decision on which one I purchase. I am contemplating five of them at this moment. |

Did you get the $10,500? Have my FHP #432 in the Ford and Mustang Trader and only had one call. Am debating on lowering mine into the 10K range. Tom K. |
Who owns this vehicle today? Is it still around and if so, could the owner please PM me? Have some questions about it's interior.
|
This is an old thread you dusted off. Buy, my how SSP prices have changed, seeing the $10,500 amount and knowing the SSP, in the nearly 15 years since.

I had a spelling error in my but above, it should have been My not Buy. My point was only that $10.5k for what Roman was listing his SSP for at the time, is a far cry from prices today. Was just pointing out how interesting it is with the way the SSP price market has changed, in a relatively short period of time.
Facebook tends to have many photos floating around, so you might give it a try or at least post out there to see who has photos like you are seeking. You just aren't going to reach a large enough audience, here, as much as I wish that was "not" the case. |
