1990 CHP SSP
I am selling a 1990 White SSP Coupe. It was a CHP car and has a DSo code of 72 which is San Jose, CA I believe. THIS CAR IS 100% STOCK. Still has factory airbox, cats, and stock mufflers. Motor is also 100% stock. It is an AOD car and the transmission and convertor were BOTH rebuilt and serviced last year. Have receipts for $2,000 worth of parts and labor on the tranny rebuild. Car shifts REALLY WELL and firm NO slop here! The car has its original paint and ALL original body panels. All VIN tags are in place. It has 156k miles, but runs WELL, no visible leaks, a/c but isnt very cold needs to be recharged. It has the factory black wheels which I had redone due to the paint flaking, they were media blasted and all 5 five wheels were redone inside and out, professionally, and look GREAT!! Car still has spare wheel cover and trunk carpet, and also has the relocated trunk release under the dash. Buck tags are still in place, I had ALL the black trim repainted around doors, windshield and back glass. Car has a clean carafax and clean title in hand. Body is in fair shape with the normal scrathes and door dings, and tehre is a dent over the passenger side wheel, shouldn't be too bad to fix. There is NO RUST in the car, and it has factory blue interior. Seats are in good shape except for one small hole on left side of drivers seat, passenger and back seat LOOK GOOD, carpet is in good shape, and dash is also in good shape. Car also still has holes in front bumper for siren. Car is a factory radio delete car, but previous owner installed a cd player. I still have the spotlights for the car they were removed by previous owner to paint and he neevr got them finished, tehre is a local co. that orders these for our Police DEPT. and I have a friend on the P.D. and he said he could get me a pair, SO if the brings brings CLOSE to teh asking price two new ones will be sold with it.
These cars are getting HARD TO FIND STOCK with ALL factory panels.... I MUST SELL THIS CAR as bad as I hate to, it would make an EXCELLENT driver or with a paint job would be NICE for cruise ins as a part of POLICE history, and is just a NEAT car to own. Asking $5,700 ANY REASONBALE OFFER WILL NOT BE REFUSED, MUST SELL to finish a Camaro project. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...y/102_3617.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...y/102_3398.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...y/102_3614.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...y/102_3596.jpg |
Do you have the buck tag info? Chp did not have aods or blue interiors.
|
I almost purchased this car last august I believe it sold on ebay for like 2000
|
I heard it might be a Santa Clara car. It is on ebay right now.
|
Cant read info on tags, but the DSO code is 72 isnt that San Jose?
I will try to get numbers and info on tags. |
It could be one of many city depts but definitely not CHP.
|
Done some cleaning on the tags and here is the BEST I can tell what they read and it is a Santa Clara car
1890 LX2 LX FT 201847 AC HB WD SK AB LF 0608 720132 2 201847 50 OTHER TAG READS 72-0132 SANTA CLARA |
That's it. :)

With as many equipment holes and as an original white car, it looks like it may have been one of these marked traffic units used by the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Dept:

Oh-been there, wait, am still there! |
Yeah buyer had placed a bid and then emailoed me and asked if I would retract it becuase he found something local. But with EBAYS policies I couldnt retract so I relisted as soon as it was over.

According to a contact at SCSO, there were four 1990 Mustangs in their fleet assigned vehicle #'s 90724, 90725, 90726 and 90727. The last one was totaled after a rollover accident while in-service. As can be seen in the photo I posted, the ID#s were marked on the front bumpers below the right headlight. The number might also be marked elsewhere on the car, owners manual or some other documentation if it's available. It would be worth looking for.
Unfortunately, the contact wasn't able to pull up VIN #s today to try to get a match on this car to their records. I found CA smog tests from 9/97 - 8/08 all done in the north SF bay area so it seems the car spend most all it's life out here. |
santa clara usually had the unit number on the lower edge of the windshield on the drivers side also.
|
Is the unit # marked anywhere else? Looked on bumper and windshield and didn't see anything?
|
Sold for $3,300...anyone here?
FYI - my Santa Clara County SO contact could not find a VIN match in the county fleet database for this car so it's pedigree seems up in the air at this point. |
For sale again?

I wouldn't be so fast to blame the newbie buyer. By the seller's statements here, it sounds like they had an "unwritten reserve" in place on the first auction and when it didn't meet it at $3,300, the car was withdrawn from sale and relisted with a reserve. :No no:
