Hesitating
 
I have a 1988 Ex-WSP SSP......I have over 210,000 miles on it. I just had the Fuels injectors replaced, a new fuel regulator, Changed the Intake AirCharge Sensor(It was Very nasty looking), and Cap & Rotor.
When I try to accelerate it still hesitates. It's worse going up hill. There is more power than there has been, but the hesitating is driving me nuts!...If I light foot the gas pedal it does fine except up hill.

Any Help?...

Also check your exhaust system. You may have a blocked or damaged cat(s).

Did you change the fuel filter ?? Might be clogged up if it hasn't been changed regularly....

Check TIF module.

Fuel Fliter has been replaced, and is chaged twice a year.

TFI went out a few years back. It was replaced...Might have to change it again.

check how the plug wires are placed on dist cap , lots of people don't know the HO firing order is like a 351w not a regular 302..
do you have a check eng light on ??
if this stuff checks out good , unplug 1 inj at a time , kinda like a power balance test .
your bad cyl will show no rpm drop when you do the inj test .
let us know your findings .

I clocked the plugs wires on the cap to the correct the 5.0 clocking. It has brand new Motorsport 19LBS Injectors, and Fuel Regulator.
There is no check Engine light. It just surges/hesitates under somewhat hard acceleration, and up hills. a light foot on the pedal it is fine.

see if you can fit a manual fuel gauge to the rail , then place the car under a load and see if the psy drops off ??? like a faulty fuel pump ?
if there is enough hose tape the gauge to the windshield and find that hill as your load , sounds like a junk pump my friend ?
your psi should stay 30-40 psi at all times .

About 12 years ago mine would do the same thing under load. I had decided to replace some things do to mileage( Timing Chain,Lifters and new Ford NOS Heads) When I picked up the Distributor that was in my car of off the bench to hand to the tech that was working on my car. We discovered when we spun it it didn't feel right. You may have a worn out Distibutor due to the Mileage.

I realize this thread is old, but I'm replying because I recently had very similar symptoms on my 1991-powered car (started happening more and more, but only when the engine was warm). In the end it was the TFI module. Need to be sure to put that heat sink grease thoroughly on the back, otherwise there's a good chance even a relatively new TFI could go bad.
