1992 FHP 1396
1 Attachment(s)
Documenting FHP 1396.
Known so far: 1992 Mustang 1FACP40E7NF135353 Purchased from Don Reid Ford for $11,733 May 1992. Assigned to Troop-H. Sold Orlando auction 12/7/1996 for$4,492.35 Appears to have been next titled in Leesburg Ga, from 3/12/1997 thru 8/14/2009, most likely with the same owner the whole time. Mileage on 4/10/1997 was 92,520 Around Late 2009 it was bought and resold by a man in Warner Robbins GA who did not apparently ever title the car in his name. He sold it to a forum member here, in early 2010. That forum member garaged the car until he sold it to me. Mileage was next reported by me on 11/24/2013 @ 180,135mi Here is the Door Tag: |

The car still has all 10 VIN Body Tags.

Paint Trim Details

This Car is 100% original paint.
I cannot find any touch up or repair work. Here are some details of how this car (they were all a little different) was painted, starting with the masking of the cream paint at the door jamb. |

PS door jamb was the same.

Door jambs and bottoms of doors, etc., were not painted well at all. In LOTs of places, the cream is showing through the black. If the lighting is so so, you would probably never see it, but flash pictures make it easy to see.

Window frame maskin job was better on the outside of the DS

but the inside had a 1/4" gap!

Both rear window frames had a sliver of cream showing.

Trunk masking was interesting.
My car has a cream colored trunk opening that was masked nicely. It also looks like the trunk lid was bolted on, painted cream, and unbolted so that the car could be painted black, BUT, the bolts were put back (to keep paint out of the threads?) and painted black. Then removed and used for final assembly. |

Inside of trunk seal lip still has some masking tape on it.

Tape stripe is still here, but a lot of it is missing, so the line isn't very straight! |

Overall the trunk is very nice, and has a lot of it's paint still. Just minor surface rust really.

Spare wheel.
NOT OEM Spare. OEM Spare is apparently on the LR right now, I can see the spare tire decal inside it. However, the current spare does have a Eagle GT +4 on it that has never been used. |

I think that this date code is for the 44th week of 1992.
If so that is after the car was built. Car was Final Assembled (radiator core support inked date stamp) on 3/31/1992. So this was probably just a tire purchased later that fall. |

But it is as new!!

I've never seen this, is it common?
this car has what appear to be factory wheel locks. This is the jack handle, and the lock key. Note the tether that is attached to the jack handle, it is designed to loop around the lug key and keep it with the handle! |

And, of course, the SSP cover.

Rear Diff tag is in place, and the date code is correct.

Equipment Holes
Bracket (any one have picture? I guess I'll need to make one.) Pass Thru Hole Speaker |

Pony emblem (missing :( )
and a ????? (two holes @ the FAR right of the dash ) Looks like some wire or equipment abrasion/marks there too. |
1 Attachment(s)
And a speaker mount on the bottom of the dash.
I would guess that the top one would have been for the VHF/UHF radio, and that this one was for the "added on" 800mhz unit, later in life? This car has all 3 antenna holes. |
VERY KEWL :-)

Took 1396 to Silver Springs and Showed it as....

"un-restored, preservation in process"
Which is of course, a category all of my own making... :) I am sure a lot of folks were wondering why there was an old fox bodied cop car was doing there... but I could not resist. I have ab annual ritual of going to this show with my best friends and my son, so we took what was in the garage... haha. |
