Need correct lights

When I look at:



I see this:



Look how there seems to be a gap between the red section and the ends where you can see between the light and the mirror.

Why couldn't the light been mounted to a bracket and then mounted to the metal trim? Maybe it had a light stick and replaced it for more flashes per second and they used the existing holes??

I think the red you see is a reflection of the red lense in the side reflecting mirror.
