There is also an EGR spacer below the heat shield. So there should be three gaskets...

carburetor
---gasket---
heat shield
---gasket---
EGR spacer
---gasket---
intake manifold

If I remember correctly the gasket between the heat shield and the EGR spacer was thicker than just a paper type gasket. And the gasket between the EGR spacer and intake manifold has to have a slot (for EGR gasses) in the rear passenger corner in addition to the four Venturi holes.
