First year for EFI (CFI) was '84. Last year was '85. Went to SEFI in '86.
If you ordered an auto (AOD) in '84 or '85 you got CFI. If you ordered a manual (T5) in '84 or '85 you got a 4V carb. Whatever VIN decoder you find online or in a book says the CFI engine code is "F" is incorrect. That code was last used in '83. All '84-'86 5.0L engines are code "M", whether they be 4V, CFI, or SEFI.
