That is a Motorola car phone trunk unit. That basically is the second to the last design of the trunk units. The RJ45 jack was for the handset, the 25 pin connector was for power and the handsfree speaker and mic, and the mini UHF connector obviously for the antenna. They were used up until the end of analog cell service. I am not sure if the serial number decodes the same way as radios, but if it does, it was made January 1991.

There were different modules that could be attached to the 25 pin connector to provide unusual service. They sandwiched between the normal cable and the transceiver, and were not common. One provided dial tone and allowed regular tip & ring home phones/faxes to be used over the air. The only place that I ever installed them was in fire command vehicles and gas company emergency command center. There was also a Motorola mobile fax machine that was another set of adapters and cables. There were probably more, but I never saw any.

Now that we know it was a phone setup , looks like that's the only thing my car was fitted with .
Check out the pic of the mounting holes...After all these years and you can still see the black line they drew on the console as they mounted the bracket.

If any site member has a car phone of that era ??? please let me know and how much?? Thanks.

My car is older, without the full console, so I can't really tell what the scale is for the pattern you have there. There were a whole assortment of different mounts, but where no extra money was spent, all the Motorola phones came with a clamshell mount for the hangup cup and if I am guessing the scale correctly, the smaller holes could be for the screws that held the cable down. I don't know if I still have any of the stuff, but I will take a look tomorrow.
