3M also tested plates here in WA for WSP. They were, in large, a failure.

The Troopers clung onto their old ones and still run the stamped plates today for WSP. The font/spacing seemed to be off slightly as well depending on the batch.

FHP has done it for years. Here is a link that mentions the testing from the FHP website:

That was from 2003, when they went to the new plates.
