Default 1985 Probable CHP on ebay

Rich told me about this one. The VIN on this car is only 41 less than mine, and falls within the range of other known CHP's (it's really close to Andy's VIN I think) -

I asked the seller for more pics and any CHP details, but he didn't come back with much. I even told him where to look for the unit number.

He could do himself some help by posting more photos and a thorough description.

That's what I pretty much told him. I asked him more questions through ebay and gave him my email addy. We'll see what he comes back with. I'd love to find one of the 85's that the CHP repainted into SMPV's. A rough guess is that out of the 155 85 CHP Mustangs, maybe 20 or so were made into SMPV's. So if you find an 85 CHP for sale, there's a 12.9% chance it was an SMPV.

Andy, if I get more pictures I will certainly post them up. From the tiny picture it looks as though it rec'd a 5-lug conversion. The engine bay is a bit stripped out too of accessories. I told him I was interested, but only if he sends more pics, provides the car's 4-digit Unit Number, and confirms the DSO. The eBay VIN search says it went to auction in 95 with under 70K miles. Perhaps 170K? We'll see how/if he responds.

I rec'd an email from the seller. He has relisted the car on ebay, with no takers at $4K (not meeting reserve) the first time around. My interest in the car has faded in terms of buying it myself, but I let him know that I'd help him find a good home for it. Here are the pics -

[Notice the hole in the a-pillar, and location of trunk release. Can't make out the speedo]

I encouraged him to join the two SSP forums and post up about his car. I've asked him the correct questions to verify its CHP history, and will let y'all know what he says. This one is certainly not too far gone to be saved. It depends on how much the seller is willing to let it got for. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the seller's email addy.
