Question Were all 87-93 FHP SSP's "rear defroster delete" cars or did this vary?

I have seen a few pics online of FHP SSP's (specifically 87-93) and some are "rear defrost delete" (ie: rear glass is clear, no defroster grid lines).

Did the FHP order all of their SSP's as RDD vehicles, or was this dependant upon who was doing the ordering (Dept. and/or procurement/purchasing)?

I checked the online Restoration Guides for the FHP SSP's and do not see any mention about RDD SSP's in FL - and I have not come across any threads discussing this either (unless I missed some) ... so it peaked my curiousity as to whether this was standard across the board, or if some FHP SSP's did come w/ the defroster grids.

The right hand dash pod switch would also coincide w/ a RDD SSP as well, as there would not be any provision for the RD on that switch if the vehicle was truly a RDD vehicle.

Defrost is an option....I've never seen an FHP car with one. Not a whole lot of need for them in FL.

As ImEvil1 said, defrost was an option, so it's not something that was "deleted". It was either ordered or it wasn't. The only time something can be ordered as "deleted" is if there was an option for such a thing.

I guess what I was getting at was more along the lines of - when the cars were ordered, was the RD option nixed from the order either by Dept. discretion or just for the fact that it's FL and was not "needed".... LOL

~~~
A similar question - were the 87-93 TX DPS units also ordered w/o the RD and was this just another one of those ordering quirks as to whether it was needed or if the vehicle just came with it as built?
Options are not "nixed" (deleted). They simply are not ordered.
Good question w/ regard to DSO's. From my past research re: Texas. It just depended on who placed the order and what items were checked off on the order specs. My car DSO for example has no RD or oil cooler.
I had to replace the one on my FHP when I got it. You can't imagine how hard it is to find a used rear window, tinted-non heated up here. Doug
