Default Correct CHP Decals

Would 85 have the low gloss CHP door decals with the non-reflective trunk HP decals?
When did they start using the High Gloss and reflective trunk script?
My dad has a set of both door styles. Don't know what would go on my 85 (other than non-reflective trunk?)

Correct door insignia for your car would be the 1955-98 version.

Reflective trunk lettering in a new style font was phased in during the outfitting of 1991 models.

Sam, if you haven't already be sure to check out the CHP restoration section of this website - lots of info here:

Thanks, I completely forgot about that part of the site
So would the high gloss decals be for the 90's cars? I might just put the low gloss on.
Don't forget about the rare wolfs head decals (1969, and other years?)

Does anyone know who can do these decals on either static vinyl or magnetic so they can be put on and removed for display purposes?

You could just get a set of reprodution decals and cut magnets to the size of the decal. You could also paint the door magnets white and the trunk magnets black before you apply the decals.
Maybe someone who has gotten magnetic decals for their car has another opinion?

And whether the decals for 1985 were low gloss or high gloss is still a mystery.

You're welcome
I have been told that the decals were the gloss (protected) decals

original vitachrome decals are not actually gloss protected, they are printed on the back side of clear vinyl, then an adhesive is added to the back of the decal. The "clear" vinyl extends about 1/8th of an inch past the color on the decals. I have spent alot of time trying to get them copied and I have not been able to find anyway that has the correct equipment to do so. I have never seen a replicate decal, from anyone, that is remotely close to the original in color and finish. If you need decals and don't mind paying a ridiculous price, there is a set of vitachrome decals on this site for sale.

Jim, are those the correct era decals for SSPs? I thought the seller said they were the older, non-color design, which would be from 1947-1955.
