Default 1991 NCSHP SSP I-235

Thought I would share my 1991 NCSHP SSP that I picked up last month. I bought it from the original owner from the state sale, who has driven the car to 264,000 miles with no major issues. The only modifications that have been done to the car is that the rims were changed to 16 inch, which I have changed back to 10 holes, and the addition of a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust. The previous owner also had ALL of the paperwork for the car, including a copy of the title when the NCSHP received the car, paperwork for every oil change, even the original key tag with the key codes! I am looking to restore her (I-235) back to in-service condition. I will keep updating this thread as things progress, and I look forward to everyone's input!

Welcome to our forum! That looks like a great basis for a restoration. The documentation makes it even sweeter! Thanks to your car's documentation, we can now confirm that 149345 (same DSO and two VINs from yours) is also a NCSHP car.

That was listed on ebay in July 2012. Saved all of the pics from the listing.

Thanks Hopup I had seen before that the car was on the bubble, so to speak, glad that it will finally be documented. Fox I was talking to the guy before the auction and of course after. I would love to see what pics you have, PM sent.

I235 should have been the Troopers call number. The I stands for interstate. All NC Trooper assigned to the interstate team had numbers starting with I. The interstate team focused on drug interdiction, and used Mustangs, and slicktop Crowns, and Caprices.

gooroo: is the door tag gone, illegible, or painted over? I would like to see it, especially the exterior paint color codes, and it would be a welcome addition to its page in the VIN Project.

xhfp, yeah the patrol doesn't number their cars but since the same trooper had the car for its service life it maintained the same number. He was based out of Greensboro working I-85 on the interstate team. The car was a slick top and did not have the State Trooper decals on the trunk like the cars that were not on the interstate team.

Fox here is the door tag, let me know if you can't make it out.

Thanks for posting the door tag. Can read it just fine. Interesting that it has "special paint" but it is only the one code. I think every other door tag that I have seen with special paint has two codes, e.g. NCSHP LF145293 = W2813 M1724.
