There was no "Dark Regatta Blue" in any year. There was "Light Regatta Blue" (3V '85, 3J '86) and a "Bright Regatta Blue (7H '87-'89).
The only 'dark' blue in '88 was "Dark Shadow Blue" (7N). Is that what you meant? That was a two-year-only ('88-'89) color so that's probably why you don't see it much.
The only places you're going to find production information by exterior paint color - and the information is not confirmed by Ford - is the Foxbody Mustang Recognition Guide and the Mustang Red Book The co-author of the FBMRG was the author of the Red Book. You will also find production excerpts from those books re-printed in magazines.
According to the FBMRG and Red Book, there were 426 1988 LX 5.0L sedans (P40E) painted Dark Shadow Blue.
