Before you go shopping for a new speedo, I recommend a good old fashioned inspection of the car. Check to make sure the cable is attached at the tranny and the cluster. With the dash out, you can drive the car (or
safely put the rear up with jackstands and engage the drivetrain) to see if the cable is spinning. Those would be the first things I would do, since the original 140mph speedometers are rare and pricey when found.
