The difficult part was figuring out how to get the knob and attached shaft out of the old switch. The knob seemed to be permanently attached, and you cannot see the spring-loaded pushbutton release from anywhere under the dash. It wasn't until I examined the replacement part, noticed that button, and figured it has to be there for a reason.
