There is a 1991 South Carolina SSP for sale locally. I have not seen the car (yet), but I have been corresponding with the seller. Once he gives me more details, I plan to post a thread in our for sale section. He did send me some pictures for our Project, which I used to create the following page:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/SC/1991SC155984/info155984.htm
There are two other SC cars confirmed in the same DSO. It looks like a nice car too. I may catch up with him this weekend at the Faulkner Police Cruise Night in West Chester, PA. Here is the info on that show:

So while I was attending the Faulkner police car cruise (http://www.faulknerauto.com/CruiseNight) last night, I had the opportunity to speak with a retired Maryland State Police Trooper, who was there to help with the driving duties of one of the several tasty Maryland State Police vehicles on display. He informs me that Maryland actually bought SSP Mustangs, which was news to me. He said that they bought roughly 50 SSPs in 1989. These were not used as patrol vehicles, but instead by detectives and other officers. He was certain of the year, but said the number could have been less than 50, as he remembered it.
Soooooo, it appears as though there is a batch of 1989 Maryland SSPs that are yet to be found. ;) Looking at our VIN Project, there are quite a few possibilities:
-40 VINs starting at 136342
-83 @ 191970
-50 @ 220499
-65 @ 224093
-61 @ 230502
150 @ 238561
100 @ 242294
-46 @ 264885
-43 @ 271841
-39 @ 283972
I think a little time spent researching VIN histories has the potential to identify a block of previously unknown SSPs. We can then order a Marti Report(s) to confirm them as such. How cool would THAT be!?!?!

I was hoping that something would "jump of the page" in terms of the research. Since the information came from a retired Trooper, he may be a bit fuzzy on the details (i.e. off by a year or two). Regardless, thank for putting the time in to look for them.

As we all know, Bobby aka kapracing is highly focused on the GSP Mustangs. He was able to confirm the VINs on many cars with GSP paperwork that he may eventually receive permission to publish online. Til then, we still have to rely on our traditional methods to confirm SSP Mustangs.
Bobby stepped up to have some Marti Reports run on a few VINs from a 91-car batch of 1991 VINs containing the GSP Mustangs that year. However, the first 2 cars in that batch were not GSP cars, nor were the final 6 cars in that batch. So we ran reports on the neighboring VINs to the GSP batch, as well as the final VIN in that batch. It turns out that these cars are also SSP Mustangs:

Kevin Marti confirmed that MF176450 was ordered by a dealer in Virginia through a DSO in Washington DC, but the car was shipped to a dealer in Illinois for an unknown reason. It is also interesting to see that the AC report for MF176539 shows that the car was shipped to Hawaii. It's amazing what can be turned up, isn't it? :)

the last 1985 Oklahoma SSP next to the first 1985 Nebraska SSP (contained in the same VIN group)

Just old fashion leg work :-)
This one was unit 1188 and went to Floyd county after decommissioned and first used as undercover unit ( they had it painted red). It was then used as a DARE car by them and then sold to a dealer of old police units, which had it re painted back to GSP blue and silver ( incorrectly as was originally gray not silver). It was then purchased by current owner from that dealer for $4250 in 2002...

A few of the Marti Reports on order arrived today. The one I was most interested in was among those which were received. Specifically, it is the VIN immediately ahead of the batch of 1983 Texas DPS Mustangs (24 cars total). Those Texas DPS cars are the ending VINs in that 50-car batch of V8 notchbacks. The AutoCheck reports for those first cars in the batch were interesting, which is why we decided to run reports on the first car in the batch and the last VIN before the Texas cars. Kevin Marti confirmed that the first car in the batch was never built by Ford. However, Marti Auto was able to provide us with a Marti Report for the other VIN, which came back as a SSP -

We used AutoCheck reports to identify what we believed to be the last VIN in the group of CHP Mustangs. In order to be sure, we had a Marti Report pulled on JF221638...
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/CHP/1988CHP221638/info221638.htm
...which shows a special paint car having the same DSO as other CHP Mustangs that year. We also pulled a Marti Report on the next VIN, JF221639. It is not a SSP, but it did come back as being an ascMcLaren!

On the 1985 VIN page, there is a 34-car batch of VINs containing an Oklahoma SSP, which is in our Project:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/OK/1985OK197588/info197588.htm
When we ran the AutoCheck reports for that batch, we found that the first ones went to Oklahoma as expected. However, the ones at the end all went to a dealer in Omaha, Nebraska. So we pulled two Marti Reports on the last Oklahoma car and the first Nebraska car, according to AutoCheck. The final VIN from Oklahoma came back as a SSP with the same DSO as the known Oklahoma car...
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/OK/1985OK197602/info197602.htm
...and the next VIN came back as a SSP too -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/NE/1985NE197603/info197603.htm
This car has the same DSO as the final VIN in that batch -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/MISC/1985MISC197619/info197619.htm
So we were able to use AutoCheck to determine where the 1985 Oklahoma VINs ended and where the next SSPs (most likely Nebraska) started. :)

Here's door sticker from that alleged GSP. It turns out it is not a GSP. But it can be added to VIN PROJECT :-)

What is it then (or what was it intended to be originally)? Are the buck tags available?
There is one in the VIN Project in the same group, four VINs later (LF147192), that was allegedly "never in service", different DSO # (21-0044), identified only as "Georgia".

It must have been ordered by the State of Georgia for some unknown usage. There are a pair of 1985 SSPs towards the end of the VIN list where one was marked on the build sheet as "CALIFORNIA", as seen here:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/MISC/1985CALIF247583/info247583.htm
That car is not a CHP unit, but the State of California bought it for some unknown reason. This wrecked car may also be a similar situation. If the owner cannot find the buck tags, then we will need to add it to our list of VINs for Marti Reports. ;)

As discussed in the part-out thread (which will eventually roll over to subsequent pages in the section as new posts are made), we rec'd a photo of the Buck Tags and were able to confirm the above 1990 State of Georgia car as a SSP -
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/forums/showpost.php?p=43663&postcount=7
As an aside, each time we add a SSP I increase the number listed at the bottom left corner on that year's page of VINs. I just added up the numbers and we now have 2,635 SSP Mustangs documented in our VIN Project. :) And this thread is closing in on having 24K views. Very nice indeed!

But is more than likely 3085 due to the fact that vin check reports follow 3089 until it was dismantled in 1999. It was however involved in a rear end collision in 1994. The car in the totaled pic was obviously not that old when rear ended. As soon as I get the earlier books I'll be able to confirm which Perm it is for certain.

Bobby, I do not remember where that VIN label photo originated. The car was added to the Project in September 2012. I checked through our classifieds but I did not see the car listed there. So the photo most likely was found while searching the web for VIN photos (i.e. a for sale listing on a Mustang website). :(

http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/FHP/1993FHP131171/info131171.htm
...which was supplemented with the new auction information. Previously, the page had various photos from the car itself, along with the odometer statement supplied by Jim Young. Notice that the ending numbers on the radiator support (T3-1192) are the same as the Lot number (192) when the car was auctioned. Coincidence, or was that number written on the radiator support at the time of auction?

From what I have seen, I would say that the yellow numbers were from the selling dealers PDI or the when the Patrol outfit the car. Thinking it's probably PDI.

The first two in that group of 106 went to to SC (LF159217-LF159218), the next four went to NC (LF159219-LF159222), and most of the last 100 have prior "POLICE" use titles in FL (LF159223-LF159322).

Looks like DSO 24-0067.
That would be 24-Jacksonville, Florida

If we order a Marti Report for a VIN near the beginning of the likely grouping of FHP Mustangs in that batch (like LF159223), and the DSO matches this car, then we can use the Florida DMV site to confirm those cars in between which have police branded titles, like we did with this 1989 FHP:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/FHP/FHPdmv/info225676.htm
I already have the screencaps, Mick (52 cars total, LF159223 - LF159300). Although the public records provided by the Florida DMV site do not confirm the SSP option or DSO number, when we find cars in-between confirmed SSPs with a police branded title as listed on the DMV site, it is like having a photocopy of the owner's title that shows the police branded title. It's just a small piece of the "SSP puzzle" for that car.
FoxChassis
02-19-2014, 01:34 PM
I ran the last 100 through the FL site and 70 of them came back with a FL title.

I look forward to seeing pictures of your newly painted SSP. A unit number of 1543 is consistent with other CHPs from that batch of VINs. The plate number was most likely E881543. I did not have any luck with the California smog site for that plate number, but I have attached a screenshot of the data for your VIN.

Quote from my last post on FEP;
Mick this 83 in question was actually built (and evidently by the days behind schedule) and scheduled before the two of the 10 GSP's we have Marti reports for... this one was built on may 22 ( 23 days behind schedule) the two GSP's (that we have reports) were built on may 29 (two days behind schedule)

Concerning this last 83 SSP;
Spoke with one of my contacts, a retired Captain from GSP. He remembers the GBI having a 1983 black/black Mustang. He said in fact he rode in it a couple times. If I were a gambling man I'd put my money on this being that car. (This is not however PROOF of it being that car though)... But they could not have been many (if any more) around this area in 83...

Including the 6 reports on order presently, we will have received 115 Marti Reports from them. That is a retail value of $1,725.00 (although we have gotten quite a few freebies). That's some serious research! Thanks everyone who has contributed! :)

So far we have received two of the six reports from Marti Auto this week. The first report was used to confirm a 1985 TxDPS car that we already had listed in the Project using the auction reports, and the Marti definitely confirms that the car came equipped with the SSP option:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/TXDPS/TxDPSsaleinfo/info188603.htm
The second one is a 1986 car believed to be a Oregon State Police car. It is in a group of only two consecutive VINs. We only had a partial view of the Buck Tag (which says OREGON), so we waited to confirm it as a SSP for the Project until we had the Marti Report in-hand:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/OR/1986OSP221267/info221267.htm
Two of the remaining Marti Reports are for likely GSA cars (based upon one's AutoCheck history and the other has in-service photos). The other two are for 1990 FHP Mustangs, which should allow us to lock in a high/low range for that batch of VINs. We have Florida DMV "Police Title" histories on 68 cars in this particular batch of VINs. :)

Here's a SSP I have been wanting to add to the Project for a while. I found the pictures online of the U.S. Border Patrol Mustang, and tried to contact the photographer about them. I made due diligence, but was unsuccessful in my attempt. So I left the photo credits in place for each of his photos. The Marti Report just came in, so I added the car to our Project:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/MISC/1988USBP289707/info289707.htm
There had been some previous speculation that this car might have been a TxDPS run-out, but the car was ordered by the GSA under DSO #83-0200. Pretty cool!

Could be, Mick.
The two 1990 FHPs came back (LF159223 and LF159321), but their DSOs are different. So the one batch had at least two DSOs contained therein, which means I cannot confirm all of the cars with Florida DMV police title histories from that batch. I have a photo of a buck tag for LF159300 that has the same DSO as LF159321, so the 17 or so cars in between with DMV hits can be added.

There is a batch of 48 VINs from 1985 starting with FF208432 which had AutoCheck histories that indicated they were ordered by the GSA. We took a chance to see if they might be SSP Mustangs, and ordered a Marti Report for the first one in the batch. It came back as a regular DSO #83 Mustang. Attached is a PDF copy of the Marti Report.

The above car was recently sold, and the seller sent me the following photo of its VIN label:
http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/CSP/1985CSP206193/85-206193vin2.jpg
The car reportedly is a Colorado SP Mustang, and is part of a batch of 13 consecutive VINs:
1FABP26M6FF206185 - [AC report shows it went to MA originally]
1FABP26M8FF206186 - [AC report shows it went to TX originally]
1FABP26MXFF206187 - [AC report shows it went to TX originally]
1FABP26M1FF206188 - [unconfirmed as Nevada HP]
1FABP26M3FF206189 (http://www.specialservicemustang.net/VINlist/NV/1985NV206189/info206189.htm) - Nevada Highway Patrol
1FABP26MXFF206190 - [unconfirmed as the wrecked Nevada HP Mustang]
1FABP26M1FF206191 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M3FF206192 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M5FF206193 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M7FF206194 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M9FF206195 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M0FF206196 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
1FABP26M2FF206197 - [AC report shows it went to CO originally]
----------13-----------
Note, that the first three cars in the batch may not be SSP Mustangs. This car's VIN is only a few numbers off from the three Nevada SSP Mustangs, and the AC reports show that the final seven cars all went to Colorado when originally delivered. Unless we receive a photo of the Buck Tags, we will have to confirm this one as a SSP through a Marti Report. It is also interesting to note that there is another batch of VINs from 1985 that we believe contain some CSP Mustangs:
1FABP26M7FF235050 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M9FF235051 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M0FF235052 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M2FF235053 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M4FF235054 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26M6FF235055 - [AC report is inconclusive]
1FABP26M8FF235056 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
1FABP26MXFF235057 - [AC report is inconclusive, but was first titled in CO]
----------8---------
We hope to someday pinpoint with certainty which of the above VINs are SSP Mustangs used by the CSP. :)

Bill I'm sending you a VIN or two. In the mail today!!
I went through and organized the USB drive that Marcos filled with folders of SSP pictures. I can readily post (as time allows) 72 new SSPs to the Project. Then there are 77 new photos I can add to existing SSPs in the Project. Finally, there are 65 cars which have weak documentation (like only having a VIN label). These are interesting because in 32 instances they are in batches with no other documented SSP Mustangs so far. This allows us to look at VINs that we otherwise might not have considered. :)
Thanks Marcos!!!

Mick, I have a friend that has an SSP that is trying to determine agency. He knows it's a long shot since the tag only says DSO Police. It has an Atlanta DSO....21-0815. VIN is 1facp40e8pf202867

The 14-VIN group that it is in (PF202862-PF202875) has a couple of other known SSPs. One of them is PF202870, an unconfirmed Clayton Co GA car, that is one special order number after this one. It is also an Atlanta DSO...21-0816.
I have not run a report on this VIN but I don't know if Bill has.
Alabama title was issued in late March 2012.
